Big Rock Candy Mountain

Pink powder puff clouds, snow white peaks and an azure sky start up a recent morning here in the valley.

Secrets of the Cookie Factory

Our undercover reporter goes deep inside the Volunteer Cookie Skunkworks for this clandestine photo of unpaid, mostly underage immigrants from lands south of the border working long hours to make the colorful and tasty treats we all enjoy.....capitalism at its worse!!! :)

Proud Little Princess

Photographed a few years ago with a bouquet of Valentine flowers from her doting parents, the littlest princess shows an early aptitude for striking a pose--and the color purple :)

Quick Snapshot

I was doing an audit today, camera in hand as usual, and snapped a photo from the back of one of the many mine buildings---this one in particular has a nice view of the west side of the valley with Arc Dome front and center.

Sleepy Heads Under the Sheets

A few clouds working their way over the eastern mountains as the day breaks over the valley.

Reindeer Games

Had to do something about the perfectly white, untouched front yard. So......There are two layers of snow, the nice light, fluffly stuff from the last few days (4-5") and then some crusty, icy stuff below (3-4").

Back and Forth

The snow in the drive is getting deep enough for Mini to plow it some with her ground effect moulding. We drive forward and reverse a few times just to smooth the driveway out some. Fortunately the snows have subsided for a few days or I'd need to get Mini a booster seat :)

Forge of the Gods

Helios is showing off starting his journey through the sky in technicolor.

Kingston International Airport

I will just hazard a guess and say that an airline terrorist would be handled just a bit differently and much more cost effectively here in Kingston.

Looking A Little Light-Headed

The recent snows have left the mountains topped off with quite a bit of the white stuff. Arc Dome, to the right, catches the first rays of the morning with a much thicker snow topped Mahogany Mountain further back and in the center.

Little Cabin in the Woods

The entire management team at the site went off into the mountains the last couple of days for a 2010 strategy planning meeting. A small bed and breakfast with out lying cabins about an hour north of the mine site. This photo is the picture of the front porch on the cabin I stayed in when I walked out this morning.....

Brothers in Arms

My brother and I a few years back (5?) If you can't tell who is who then you really don't know us :) Gee, who says t-shirts don't say anything about your personality?

Looks like a Blue Sky day

Well the birds aren't exactly singing and the flowers blooming but we do have the first blue sky dawn in many weeks. Obviously snow still sits on the ground in places but we actually had a little rain and sleet before an inch or so of the soft stuff last night.

Star Power

Granted, it was only her little brother, but the leading lady seemed to like being presented with flowers after the performance.

Looks like Seafood Tonight!!!

Even in her younger days the Littlest Princess was always ready to try something new--how about some fresh water shrimp! Very weird looking of course, but certainly edible :)

Future High Rollers

Things are pretty quiet here out west with the temperature cold, overcast skies, and crunchy snow still in abundance. I pulled out the archives a group of teenagers playing the time tested of game of Monopoly in a cabin in Arkansas after a long day paddling on the Buffalo River.

Big things come in big packages

Almost had to open the sunroof and strap it in the passenger seat :)

A Boy and his dog....the early days

Back when the lad and young pup both could fit easily on a small couch. Today is a different entirely story of course....

Ready, Aim, Fire!!!

Looks like the photographer is getting ready to be pummeled in snowballs--though I believe the guy in the red coat is firing blanks....

Like some of us that have been around computers a while, I have a stash of old, small or broken hard drives (or various combinations of the three). I recently purchased another usb drive dock, but along with reading the more modern SATA drives it has the power/cable combinations for the older IDE drives (2.5" & 3.5"). So I'm pulling pictures, drawings and such off of these drives to archive.

Head in the clouds

Had some really thick cloud cover that dropped to the valley floor overnight as the temperature drop into the teens. Sunrise gives Arc Dome a view of the tops of the clouds in the valley below.

Slopes are open!!!

What a difference a few weeks make...aptly named Snow Mountain as seen from Hwy 95 at the Las Vegas northern city limits.
