The Candy & Toy Store

The littlest ones having some fun just a few years ago.....note: some things just don't change as they pretty much have the same relationship even today--though Alex keeps his room much cleaner :)

The garage band "Dumpster Juice"

The cult band's first (and last) music video though several of the members have fortuitously gone onto greater fame and fortune outside of the music field :)

Sugar Rush

Replete with fashionable footwear and several cases of giggles, the BAM Team hams it up for the photo though I do believe the youngest princess may have had just a bit too much of the sweet stuff :)

Snowflakes are Subliming

Waiting for the ice crystals on my windows to sublime (they don't really melt but evaporate in the low humidity even at 16 degrees F.) I thought of Tomita's rendition of Debussy's tone paintings in his album "Snowflakes are Dancing"using a Moog synthesizer and pressed in vinyl (circa 1974). A certain young lady with a manga streak and a budding appreciation for Tchaikovsky should give this eclectic collection a whirl....

Southern Colorado Rocky Mountain Wilderness

Snow is a bit deep 80 miles south of Grand Junction, CO

My Control Tower is Bigger than Yours

Has to be a guy thing as there is no way the Memphis "International" airport needs a bigger tower--it's been the big Fedex hub for many years with the smaller tower.

Last Snow of the Season

A small patch of once foot deep snow on the upper deck melts in the relatively warm spring time temperatures.

Turning Golden

A plethora of assorted Gold Finches adorn the bird feeder off the deck. The males are just starting to get their yellow plumage to court the ladies in attendance.  Note the one oddball House Finch in the crowd.

Tennessee Snow Line...

The last of the snow on the sunny side flows away.

Looking South over the Alkali Flats

A fairly nondescript photo taken while tooling down the highway from the northern end of Smoky Valley. The large white patches across the valley floor are alkali flats that are pretty much white year round. Any rain across the valley accumulates in these areas and evaporates leaving the high mineral content behind.

Snow Flowers

The snow here in the valley tends to be the light powdery stuff that is easily blown into drifts or, as pictured here, can build up when not being blown around. This particular "dusting" was about a days worth of very light snow with little wind.

Naturally Flocked

Crusing to work the other morning after a light and airy snow fall the night before, a small conifer stands proudly with it branches laden with powdery snow--the first Christmas tree.

Cool night in the desert

Vegas in the evening, again....heading east in a few hours for some Valentine's Day dinner with my main squeeze--and assorted young cubs.

Looks like about 3" of the white stuff.

Something wicked this way comes..

Making my usual rounds on a Saturday morning I snapped (a rather colloquial term?) a photo of the first of many snow showers for the weekend.

And the following moonset over Wall Canyon

The morning following the moonrise photo on the Jefferson saddle I snapped a 1x photo and a 5x photo (optical of course). Now if it just warms up some, I might get to look at Luna much closer!

Moonrise over Mt. Jefferson's Saddle

Happen to catch the moonrise over the eastern mountains this past week. For once it was clear though still a bit cold.

Change of Seasons

Mini was jealous because my main squeeze had her picture taken this past Fall in front of the Round Mountain sign so I had to stop and snap her picture as well :) Actually remembered the first photo and stopped to take a picture for a contrast in seasons.

DIY Paradise

When first coming to the valley I passed the hardware twice before expanding my mental horizons to what I should be looking for.....Home Depot it isn't, but it has a great view from the backyard :)
