Clouds are a lot higher than normal. Valley floor is about a mile high, the taller mountains on either side another mile and the clouds are well above these. Weather comes from California coast mostly.
Rocks are pretty much everywhere---no soil really. The middle of the valley the rocks are small gritty/pebbly stuff mostly. Going up the slopes the rocks get bigger and bigger.
From what the geologists have told me, the actual original valley floor is over a 1,000 feet under the middle of the valley and everything is erosion from the mountains.
Seems like a lot of clouds for out west, and it looks like Mars with a few bushes. Is everywhere covered with that many rocks?
