Giant Composite Panorama

I'm still playing with different software that aligns multiple images into one large image. This image combines over a dozen photos and somewhat "scrunches" the left to right distance. The pit is over 2 miles left to right and over a mile across. Mining equipment can be seen upon zooming the photo and gives a sense of scale.

Canine Hair Balls

So how much does a 100 pound golden retriever lap dog shed? Bunches and bunches. Our poor Roombas try everyday to keep the hair balls at bay with decent success. One of the side effects is hair building up in the brush gearboxes---I guess the design engineers didn't have retrievers to test with. I modified both gear boxes with sealed bearings to stop this from happening and was suprised when I found out that geeky DIYers all over the country have done the same thing.

Fried Green Tomatoes

The last of the season's bounty from our garden all boxed up and ready to ripen over the next few weeks. Looks like lots of chili sauce for the cold months ahead :)

3D Turkey Bird

I typically leave my camera in "Burst" mode and if I remember I shuffle a bit to give myself 2-3 images.  Easy to store with today's memory cards.

Panda Perfect

An obviously thrilled Littlest Princess shows off a few additions to her Panda specific accessorizing before heading of for a Friday of classes (which she dominated last trimester!).

Ladybug, ladybug fly away home...

Every year since we have lived in our home (7+ now) a small collection of ladybugs "nest" in a near comatose state during the winter inside a frame of a window opening in my office.  For such a simple and beneficial insect it sure knows where "home" is and like many long lasting "children's" rhymes there is a rather dark underlying theme.

And speaking of "long lasting", Happy 51st to Dad and Mom!!!

Shake, Rattle & Roll

Had a little 2.5 magnitude tremor this morning centered about 3.5 miles the way a crow flies and 4.8 miles down---very typical of the area and, according to quite a few experts, just the echoes of the New Madrid earthquake from over 200 years ago that rang church bells in Boston.
