Nothing quite says Saturday night here on the high plains like watching a few games of Donkey Basketball with your friends. The sights, the sounds and the smell is unique to this closet sport. All kidding aside, it was a fundraiser for the school. The kids had a blast in between games touching and petting the equine stars. There was also a dedicated clean-up team to run out onto the court if one of the players had an "emergency". Fortunately this never happened, but this well trained team was vigilant throughout the night. The donkeys had some type of padded/rubberized "shoe" that was probably very comfortable compared to an iron-shod hoof. Didn't notice if they had little Nike swooshes on the sides though.
